TR Truck

Jon Matthias, owner of TR Truck and Auto, often hears his
customers say, "I used to have a car or truck like that."
Long gone are the days when soda cost a nickel, when the
Andy Griffith Show had new episodes and when muscle cars,
and trucks were sold for just a few thousand dollars. The
enthusiasm and passion for muscle cars, now labeled classic
and sold at significantly higher prices, still exists today.
Matthias shares this passion with his customers. "That was a
fun time in life. It was such a short period of time when
these autos were worth something all by themselves," recalls
Matthias when thinking about his 1962 Chevy Super Sport
convertible automobile.
TR Truck and Auto's fabric structure showroom is located in
Newton, Wisconsin and sells over one hundred classic cars
and trucks every year. Since opening over twelve and a half
years ago, Matthias has bought and sold classic cars and
trucks to every type of buyer, including a few celebrities.
"These automobiles are appreciating in value. The market is
strong and we're trying to take care of the, the best we
can," explains Matthias.
"I
wanted to get something that was affordable and able to
handle a lot of cars. It saves us a lot of work keeping
them clean and the atmosphere is really nice for the
cars."
Wanting to
keep his automobiles clean and damage free, Matthias bought
two tension fabric structures. Using one fabric building as
a showroom has really benefited Matthias' business. He says,
"This fabric structure has been working out really well. I
wanted to get something that was affordable and able to
handle a lot of vehicles. The autos show off really well in
the fabric building. It saves us a lot of work keeping them
clean and the atmosphere is really nice for the vehicles.
People are in awe when they see the inside of the fabric
building. They can't believe how bright it is. It really is
comfortable in warm weather and we do open the doors and
it's like being in the shade under a tree."
The tension fabric building protects the cars and trucks
from the sun and rain, reducing the amount of cleaning and
maintenance to the cars, which maintains their overall
value. "The fabric building showroom is saving us a lot of
labor by keeping the automobiles clean and almost
dust-free," says Matthias. "We've had winds up to 50 miles
per hour and we've had hail. By storing the vehicles inside
the fabric building, sure takes the liability out of having
cars damaged by hail."
With customers from all over North America, as well as the
United Kingdom, Matthias likes that his cars are always
presentable. "Its nice that if customers want a picture sent
out, we can walk out here in the middle of winter and the
cars look sharp and clean. We don't have to be pushing snow
off them. We're trying to take care of the vehicles the best
we can and this facility is doing an excellent job with
that." |

Falcon Lake Golf Course -
Fabric Building for Golf Cart Storage
|
Location:
Falcon Beach, MB Building Size: 32' (9.7m) wide x
120' (36.5m) long
Application: Fabric Golf Cart Storage |
|
Falcon Lake Golf Course is a beautiful 18 hole course
located 90 minutes east of Winnipeg, Manitoba on the Trans
Canada Highway. Ranked number 30 out of the top 100 golf
courses in Canada, Falcon Lake Golf Course offers a
challenging course stretching from 6600 to 7000 yards. When
Falcon Lake Golf Course purchased a new fleet of golf carts,
they decided to store them inside a tension fabric building.
The 32' (9.7m) wide x 120' (36.5m) long fabric building
houses 60 carts daily.
This business decision has resulted in a lot less
maintenance. The fabric building includes a wash facility
where the golf carts are cleaned and prepped the night
before. In the morning, the carts are unplugged and moved
out of the fabric building in perfect condition and ready to
go. "Every morning getting up to wipe and dry off the carts
was a bit aggravating," says Jeff Heiland, Associate Golf
Professional at Falcon Lake Golf Course. "We used to
have to wipe off the dew, the water, and the bugs everyday."
Sandy Kurceba, a former Australian tour player, is an
international trick shot artist and is also the Director of
Golf at Falcon Lake Golf Course. "This tension fabric
building is functional because we can get the carts coming
in the back door to get cleaned, washed and housed with
electricity," says Sandy. "It's big enough to do all the
work that we have with the carts."
Falcon Lake Golf Course chose a darker green fabric to blend
in with the surrounding natural environment. "The color is
terrific because it blends with the scenery. It is a very
functional fabric storage building for our space and time,"
says Sandy.
The tension fabric structure
offers a lot of room to move around inside. It is also used
as a winter storage facility for the rest of the maintenance
equipment. Green mowers, t-mowers, tractors, and carts are
all stored inside the tension fabric building which helps to
reduce the wear and tear on the equipment. "The carts are
really quite good, as far as sun fading and wear and
tear," says Jeff. "The condition of our golf carts at
the end of our five-year lease, look as good as the day they
were picked up!" Sun damage, water contamination, and any
corrosion problems are avoided by using the fabric covered
steel truss building for storage.
"This fabric
building is functional because we can get the carts
coming in the back door to get cleaned, washed and
housed with electricity. It is a very functional
structure for our space and time."
- Sandy Kurceba,
Director of Golf
